2023 International Conference on Computer Science and Mechatronics

ICCSM 2023 has been held successfully in Shanghai, China with particial virtual on March. 10-12, 2023.

2023 International Conference on Computer Science and Mechatronics (ICCSM 2023) has been held successfully on March 10, 2023 as virtual conference. There were about 120 delegates from 9 countries (China, India, Canada, UK, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, South Africa) that attended virtual conference and several experts in related fields were invited to give keynote speeches. The in-depth discussions among the attendees effectively advanced the academic exchange.


We have invited 3 respectable experts to deliver an unusual keynote addresses at the plenary meeting, consisting of Dr. Chen Qian (Department of Statistics, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, USA), Dr. Emmanuel Ndashimye (Carnegie Mellon University Africa) and Dr. Mengfan Zhang (Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, China).

Abstract of speech: It is important to quantify the differences in returns to skills using the online job advertisements data, which have attracted great interest in both labor economics and statistics fields. In this article, we study the relationship between the posted salary and the job requirements in online labor markets. There are two challenges to deal with. First, the posted salary is always presented in an interval-valued form, for example, 5k–10k yuan per month. Simply taking the mid-point or the lower bound as the alternative for salary may result in biased estimators. Second, the number of the potential skill words as predictors generated from the job advertisements by word segmentation is very large and many of them may not contribute to the salary. To this end, we propose a new feature screening method, Absolute Distribution Difference Sure Independence Screening (ADD-SIS), to select important skill words for the interval-valued response. The marginal utility for feature screening is based on the difference of estimated distribution functions via nonparametric maximum likelihood estimation, which sufficiently uses the interval information. It is model-free and robust to outliers. Numerical simulations show that the new method using the interval information is more efficient to select important predictors than the methods only based on the single points of the intervals. In the real data application, we study the text data of job advertisements for data scientists and data analysts in a major China’s online job posting website, and explore the important skill words for the salary.


Abstract of speech: The commercial deployment of 5G networks require heterogeneous multi-tier, multiple radio access technologies(RATs) to support vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication with diversified services. Vehicles may need to cross a number of heterogeneous networks of various sizes before reaching the destination. Due to high-speed travel, vehicles may quickly move in and out of the network coverage areas while performing handover. Fast and efficient selection of an appropriate underlying network is critical for seamless handover performance. In this talk, we will discuss two novel handover algorithms proposed for improved handover performance in V2I communication over heterogeneous wireless networks.


Abstract of speech: In this talk, we present an overview of quantum-safe cryptography (QSC) with a focus on post-quantum cryptography (PQC) and information-theoretic security. From a cryptographic point of view, lattice and code-based schemes are among the most promising PQC solutions. Both approaches are based on the hardness of decoding problems of linear codes with different metrics. From an information-theoretic point of view, lattices and linear codes can be constructed to achieve certain secrecy quantities for wiretap channels as is intrinsically classical- and quantum-safe. Historically, coding theory and cryptography are intimately connected since Shannon’s pioneering studies but have somehow diverged later. QSC offers an opportunity to rebuild the synergy of the two areas, hopefully leading to further development beyond the NIST PQC standardization process. We conclude our understandings and prospects of future research after NIST PQC standardisation.


According to the review of the organizing committee, there are 36 papers selected to be published on conference proceedings. In addition, the conference was composed of 4 technical oral sessions and 2 poster sessions. Each parallel session went through smoothly and a “Best Presentation” award was issued at the end of conference, with the support of session chairs.
